Much artistic licence has been taken if this is indeed a crofter's cottage on Skye, or anywhere else in the Highlands. The trees are authentic enough but the harsh life of the crofter left little time for the cultivation of a pretty garden.

The quote beneath the "Crofter's Cottage" title comes from The Timepiece, a poem written by William Cowper (1731 - 1800). Born in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, he was a renowned poet, letter writer and hymn writer during his lifetime and beyond, despite bouts of severe depression which prevented him from following a legal career
