Sir Harry Lauder (1870 - 1950), the singer and comedian, was a regular visitor to Kyle of Lochalsh and became very friendly with Captain MacArthur who was skipper of the S.S. Lochness on the Mallaig - Kyle - Stornoway route from 1929. The Captain had many stories about his famous passenger. This shot was taken close to the Chemist's corner where Duncan Macpherson had his pharmacy, and was used as one of the illustrations in Macpherson's book 'Where I Belong'.
